Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 1 is Massive

Larian Studios releases patch notes for Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 1, and the sheer number of fixes even exceeds Steam's text limit.

After a handful of hotfixes, Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has issued the first proper patch for the beloved CRPG, and the fixes are so extensive that they exceed Steam's text limits. Larian Studios targeted a little bit of everything from story flow and logic to gameplay, from balance adjustment to visual fixes, and from crashes and blockers to actions and status conditions. Needless to say, it seems Larian Studios touched a little bit of everything with this update to Baldur's Gate 3.

Alongside this patch, Larian also mentioned a couple of cool new statistics for Baldur's Gate 3. First, players have managed to collectively play over 200,000,000 hours since launch, which amounts to over 22,000 years. This is especially noteworthy because it's only available on Steam as of this writing. The PS5 version comes out next month, and Larian Studios recently confirmed Baldur's Gate 3 would hit Xbox Series X/S before the end of the year. Other details include the most popular class being Paladin, and Humans and Elves being the most popular races chosen by players. And finally, Larian Studios promises that Patch 2 is "right around the corner" which will target performance improvements.

Perhaps the most exciting updates come to the various BG3 companions. There are a lot of fixes targeted at making sure players have better and more clear options regarding romance with Gale, so they know when they are being flirtatious, and Minthara seems to have received a bunch of fixes. For example, players can no longer "break" the game and recruit both Halsin and Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3. Her dialogue, dating options, and so forth have also been updated, though it remains to be seen how extensively this improves the game after recruiting her.

There's a lot of balancing and gameplay fixes to specific classes, BG3 character options like the Dark Urge, and improvements and/or buffs or nerfs where needed. For example, some enemies in Tactician Mode are made even stronger or across the game as a whole.

The entire Baldur's Gate 3 patch notes are quite extensive and can be seen below. BE WARNED: These Notes Contain SPOILERS.

Since then, he's been involved with every step of the gaming industries' growth from the golden PS1 era and the dying days of the arcade to any current gaming trend.
